TREE REPLACEMENTS completed AT ENTRANCE

You may have noticed a couple of crabapple trees in the median area near the Dunham Road entrance that have been removed and replaced with Cornelian-cherry Dogwood trees. These flowering trees were selected to maintain consistency with the “tree grove” concept at the entrance and elsewhere in the median landscape areas. Thanks to the City of St. Charles for replacing these trees!

MEDIAN FOUNDATION IN THE NEWS!

Earlier this spring, the Fox Chase Boulevard Median Foundation was featured in a recent Daily Herald newspaper article as well as an article in the St. Charles Living magazine. Brush Pick-Up Dates Announced

The City has announced brush pick-up dates for 2019. On the East Side, the remaining dates for pick-up at eligible residences will be on July 15, Aug 19, Sept 16, Oct 21 and Nov 18. Branches and brush must be placed on the parkway, in front of your house or along the frontage where refuse/recycling is collected.

We remind residents that brush should not be placed at the rear of your residence along the Fox Chase Boulevard parkway, as this violates City ordinances. The Median Foundation is vigilant in reporting violations of the brush pick-up guidelines to maintain the safety and beauty of the boulevard and surrounding areas (see following article for more details).

City Takes Action to Eliminate Brush Piles

The City of St. Charles has taken steps to address the unsightly piles of brush and yard waste that accumulate along Fox Chase Boulevard and elsewhere in the City. Here is a quick summary of the actions the City has taken in response to concerns expressed by the Median Foundation and other residents in the community:

  • The City revised the Brush Pick-up ordinance (8.24.030), which is posted on the City's website and regularly communicated in the Den Newsletter. Brush must now be placed on the address side of the parkway for pick-up. These guidelines apply to all residents in the City of St. Charles that are eligible to participate in the Brush Pick-up program.

  • The City continues to reinforce the guidelines by sending letters and/or contacting residents living near locations where brush/leaves are inappropriately placed along the Boulevard.

Median Foundation Board Members applaud the steps taken by City administrators and fully support their commitment to maintain the beauty of Fox Chase Boulevard and other parkway areas in the City. We encourage neighbors to contact the Public Works Department at (630) 377-4405 (email: pw@stcharlesil.gov) or contact a Median Foundation Board Member to report residents that do not follow the Brush Pick-up guidelines.
